About Us
Today and Tomorrow:
In December of 2008, the Hidden Heroes Education Society established a Job Creation Partnership (JCP) with the Federal government. This was followed by the opening of an office and the hiring of five staff.
The JCP grant (now administered by the Provincial government) allowed us to aggressively move forward from December 2008 to the summer of 2009. We had a great team and the program grew rapidly during this time.
This growth resulted in us making contact and developing a partnership with Alberta's Parkland School Division. They had recently received a provincial grant to work with the Critical Thinking Consortium (www.ct2.ca) to strengthen the critical thinking components in all subjects taught in the school division from Kindergarten to Grade 12.
"TC2 is an internationally renowned non-profit association of education professionals who are committed to promoting critical thinking from primary to post-secondary education through professional development, publications and research. Since its inception in 1993, TC2 has worked with thousands of educators in North America, Europe and Asia. The TC2 model of critical thinking imbeds critical thinking into regional school curriculums to make it more accessible to teachers and their students in a broad range of educational contexts"
When Parkland School Division found our web site, they could see that our program is particularly strong in critical thinking, so much of their work for social responsibility/character education was already done.
During the time we had the JCP support, another partnership was developed with the Mid Vancouver Island Boys and Girls Clubs. We created an Our Hidden Heroes after school program designed to meet the needs of Boys and Girls Clubs.
As of the fall of 2010 Bill Robinson is back working on his own with some volunteer help; however, a relationship of some sort is being discussed with The Critical Thinking Consortium (TC2). One way or another the Our Hidden Heroes program will continue to grow.
