Some of the topics that the Students will study include identifying  socially responsible behaviours.  They start to learn, apply and practice problem solving through scenarios and conflict work sheets.  Students will learn the difference between a “Super Hero” and a “Hidden Hero”. They will also start goal setting and learn about perseverance

Some of the topics that the Students will study include learning to evaluate themselves according to BC Social Responsibility Performance Standards and the affects of developing positive self-esteem. They will identify hidden hero characteristics and activate the hidden hero within themselves.  Students will understand the value and role of a positive attitude, as well as overcoming adversity and obstacles.  They will discover the power of compliments and acknowledgment and the “ripple effect” that will ensue from small personal improvements in what they think, say or do

Some of the topics that the Students will study include learning about their strengths and how that knowledge can and does affect others.  They understand the ripple effect that begins to happen when someone makes a small personal improvement in what they think, say or do.  Knowing the difference between needs and wants and how Glasser and Maslow see the hierarchy of human needs.  Valuing diversity by examining the impact of “first impressions”.  Students discover the power of acknowledgement and understand the value and role of a positive attitude while identifying and activating the hidden hero within.

          The stories and accompanying activities have been organized to present students with increasingly challenging concepts to consider. This purposeful design is intended to support students’ growth in thinking and their ability to compare, contrast and critically analyze the characters and the information in the selected stories. Each story is followed by questions which present students with opportunities to develop critical thinking skills.
