Last spring the Parkland School division received funding to work with the internationally renowned Critical Thinking Consortium (
www.tc2.ca) to strengthen critical thinking in all subjects from K to 12.
TC² is an internationally renowned, non-profit association of education professionals who are committed to promoting critical thinking from primary to post-secondary education through professional development, publications and research.
When we were developing the Our Hidden Heroes program, we spent a lot of energy focusing on critical thinking as well as social responsibility, literacy, language arts, personal planning, social studies and ethics.
When the Parkland folks found us on the Internet, they could see that much of their planned work to strengthen critical thinking in these areas was already done. When they approached us, we agreed on a partnership that will see them, with help from the Consortium, offer suggested improvements to the Our Hidden Heroes program especially in the area of critical thinking.
